Agni Pariksha' is yet another Bengali film with great performances by Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. The film tells the story of Tapasi (Suchitra Sen) and Kiriti (Uttam Kumar). They are deeply in love, but there is a slight problem - Kiriti does not know that Tapasi is already married. Tapasi is also in a great dilemma. She got married when she was just a child and hasn't met her husband for years. The only man she knows is Kiriti. Should she hide her marriage from Kiriti and fulfill her desires or should she reveal the truth and bear the heartburn?
